Our company history really began in the year 1492. The discovery of the New World by Christopher Columbus opened the way to unimaginable treasures: gold and silver, but above all fascinating cultivated plants, awaited the discoverers. The Aztecs and Mayas already savoured a delicious chocolate drink made from the fruit of the cocoa tree, and soon clever traders were bringing whole shiploads of this precious new commodity to Europe – and kindling a sweet new passion.
